Shesh Mani Dahal, FCA

Shesh Mani Dahal is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with over a decade of professional experience, holding a Master’s in Business Studies and a Bachelor’s in Laws, with advanced specialization in Tax Policy from Harvard University. Currently, he serves as Senior Partner at SDR Associates, Chartered Accountants, a member firm of IR Global (UK).

 

In addition to his practice, he has been appointed by the Government of Nepal as a Board Member of the Auditing Standards Board Nepal and serves as Co-Chair of the Revenue Committee at the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), the apex body of Nepal’s manufacturing and service industries. He has also held an international academic exposure, worked as Thesis Supervisor at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in international taxation.

 

Shesh is one of the highly regarded young professionals especially in tax fraternity. He is an author of three different books including eight editions of “The Purple Book of Tax” which are highly appreciated books of tax among tax professionals, professional accountants, private and public sector enterprises. He has also worked as a resource person for writing of study material of Taxation for Chartered Accountancy education in Nepal.

 

Shesh has extensive experience working with national and international institutions on revenue policy design and implementation. He contributed as a research team member for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on taxation and taxpayer registration systems within Nepal’s federal structure. He has been appointed as a Tax Specialist for multiple assignments by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) and the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI), and has also served as a Consultant to the Nepal Revenue Advisory Board (NRAB), providing strategic input on tax reforms and fiscal policy.

 

Shesh, a practicing Chartered Accountant, takes an active lead in conducting internal and statutory audits for a diverse range of entities, including corporate entities, public sector enterprises, and NGOs/INGOs in Nepal. In addition, he has offered consultancy services for tax litigations and served as a tax planner for both national and multinational businesses in the country. Shesh has played a pivotal role as the main tax consultant for numerous renowned multinational businesses operating in Nepal.

 

He has both national and international exposure through participation in high-level global forums, including the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings, where he engaged in discussions on global fiscal, monetary, and taxation policies, and the ACCA APAC Dialogue, which focused on transfer pricing, sustainability reporting, digitalization, and the impact of geopolitics on international trade.

 

His core expertise lies in Taxation, Accounting Standards, and Labour Law, and he has traveled extensively across Nepal to deliver professional training in these areas. Over his career, he has trained more than 50,000 participants, including ministers, ex-ministers, parliamentarians, tax officers, chartered accountants and government officials. In addition to training, he is a prolific writer, with articles regularly published in Nepal’s leading national dailies and online medias.
